First things to do when you want to market your business digitally!




Alright, so now you finally make a commitment to use digital marketing in your business but you find hard to figure out where to start or may be you already using digital media in your business and want to learn more about the new opportunities? Right! Don’t worry you have picked the right place and the right guy.


So, there are so many things you can do when it comes to digital marketing but I promise you I won’t make you overwhelmed because I will give you step by step guide of what to do, where to do and when to do if you want to take your business to the next level digitally.

The first and most important thing is the Website.


If you know, when it comes to online marketing the business website works as the most important asset for any business because this is the first thing your customers see when they know about you and your business and that's why I am putting half of my energy to work on my business website that it will be out very soon.


I know you already have a website and you wonder how can be your website become your most valuable asset because probably you are not earning a single dime from that and moreover you are paying someone to keep your website up and running.


Let me reveal you a fact here!


70% of websites on the internet are just live for a showcase, what I mean by that is in which businesses are just using their website to show what their business can offer and do for people and blah blah blah... even the fun part is that they are not doing it good and most of the websites look creepy that always end up with bad customer first impression and if you know the famous saying " The first impression is the last impression". The real purpose of your website should not only to showcase your business to your visitors(those who can become your lifetime customers). But instead, the real purpose of your website should have to be give value to your website visitors, booking appointments online, filling out the lead form, making the visitors to take action on something and more and more.


Tip: Never consider your website just as a showcase for your business instead consider your website as a sales funnel in which there are a series of online steps that guide your customers to take actions. You are showing your customers what they want to see first and so and so on!


What do you think will they start taking actions on your website if they see what they want to see? Will they start filling up the lead forms or not? Yes! they will and this is how buyers physiology works.


There is a good exercise on that put yourself in your customer's shoe what I mean by that is think yourself that you are like your customers and then land on your website. You will see the difference.


You will notice your website does not show your customers what to do when they land onto your website.


What will also notice that your website does not resonate what you want to see as a customer.


Your website is just like a showcase that does not has any other real purpose.

Ohk so what is the solution.


You will get solutions by asking yourself the right questions like is what is the real purpose you have from your website? What you want your customers to do when they land onto your website? Always do reverse engineering means always put yourself in your customer's shoe.

Second and also important thing is Content.


Content is the blood of every business. Every business needs content, period. If you don’t have it you will fail, period. And your content can’t be shitty, period. The most important source of your content should come through video, period.

Let's say I have a problem that your business solves, I want to know more about your business and I have access to the internet. What I do is I jump to your website and your social accounts. What I see there is nothing. There are just words that can’t convince me to take any action. I jump back to leave your site and never come back. You see I could become your potential client but I didn’t see anything that show how you can help me and why would I believe whatever you are saying in words. There is not supporting material that can support your words.


You see I ask people what are there business good at and they go like oh... our customer services is out of the world, we are experienced professionals, our fees is too low compare to our market.. so and so on.. then I say alright, How your customer will know that you have these specialties in your business? How they will know while sitting on their couch that your business is the one that they were looking for? after listening these questions they get silent because its true, your content only can deliver this and the best source is video content in which people get more comfortable while seeing a person in a video. it gets human friendly.


If you just started you need to have 3 different types of content in a video form:-


  • Business awareness video - What you do, why you do and what is your business why?

  • Testimonial video- You see if people don’t believe in your words then they have to believe in what you have done, what results you have brought to other people.

Excuses time


Excuse no.1 - Well Rajat, I get that it's important to have these videos but I don’t know how to make it. If you have this thing in your mind then I would say its an excuse, How many times you have tried to make these videos? Try it. Something is always better than nothing. Get into it, I know you will figure that out.


Excuse No.2 - Alright Rajat, I will try to make these for my business but I don’t have any types of equipment to make videos. I understand that and on my opinion I would say you only need three things to make these video 1. Pen and paper(where you gonna make a script of the video) 2. Phone( Any Android and IOS phone will work) 3. Voice( That you already have).


When you have these three videos, then start working on more video content that your business can produce.


Third and also important thing Social media


Come up on social accounts, people search you all across the web before doing anything with you. When they don’t see you they think you as spam and leave you for forever. There are so many different channels that you could come upon but the most important are as follows:-


Facebook


The worldwide number of monthly active Facebook users from 2008 to 2019. As of the third quarter of 2018, Facebook had 2.27 billion monthly active users. In the third quarter of 2012, the number of active Facebook users had surpassed one billion, making it the first social network ever to do so. Active users are those which have logged in to Facebook during the last 30 days. Furthermore, as of the previous quarter the social network had 1.74 billion mobile MAU. The platform is also the most popular social network worldwide

Facebook is always the most famous and profitable platform to start with. Facebook is also known as the king of advertising.

2. Instagram -

As of June 2018, there are nearly 1 billion monthly active users. 1 Billion is a big number, and it positions Instagram behind Facebook (1.4 billion) but ahead of most other social network sites, including Twitter (who has 68 million) and Pinterest (250 million).

Instagram is a great tool or platform to accomplish your stated goals. A lot of industries are using this platform to get tons of traffic or brand awareness. If you know the Famous fitness club @anytime fitness had around 18.8k followers in 2015 but guess what how many they have in 2018 nearly 75.4k followers. Every year they are using this platform to increase their brand engagement.


After coming up on these 2 platforms use them to build your fan following, to build credibility, to get customers and more and more.
